Way back in 2006 when I originally sketched this up on paper, I'd actually spent a few days trying to figure out the exact layout of the countryside and castle within it. Looking at it now, I actually cringe at this piece because it's so apparently how "mooshy" so much of it is, but for the time I made it, it was something I was decently happy with, although I never really revisited it in earnest (or in color).
Looking at it now, there are massive gaps in logic pertaining to the layout (how would the entrance to a castle even WORK like that? Where is the light coming from? Is that honestly in perspective? That horse's anatomy makes me cry, etc.), but I recently found it again and was surprised I hadn't uploaded it to DA. Upon seeing that, I mused that it had been too long since I'd done a color landscape and well... what started as a "let me redo that sort of scene in an hour's speedpaint" turned into a number more hours.
So in addition to uploading the completed 2012 version, I thought I'd upload this one just to show where it came from (and hopefully to also show how far I've come in the time since).
