I can't express how much of a labor of love this simple little sculpture has become. For something that started so casually and innocently, it's really grown into something else.

This might very well be the most complex sculpture I've ever done. I certainly wasn't planning on it in the least, but there is only so much I can fight my muse when I know that "well, Patrick just woudln't have his hair do whatever, he'd clearly have it UP like so...." through to "He trims the top of his mane sort of like a buzz-cut. It's important for him to look well-groomed, obviously..." onto "Well, he wears clothes, so I should make sure to include a hint of that..." finishing with ".... Well, he's probably just finished reading... so he probably still has his reading glasses on..." etc etc. On and on... almost like a conversation with the sculpture.

So, a tribute to Patrick here, I suppose. A character that while I haven't written for him in an awfully long time, I'm sure he's still off having adventures just the same, and driving more than a handful of people around him a bit batty (not purposely, of course

).

...and I still can't believe how well the "mane" turned out. O_o It's so rare I get something that preciously close to how I see him in my head. That "depth" and layering was horribly frustrating to accomplish, but SO, so sosososo soooo worth it in the end.
