Description
Completed in 2004
This (rather quickly-rendered) piece actually has a bit of story behind it. Originally, it was a colored-pencil rendering that eventually had some acrylic added for effect, but after it was "complete," I found that it was missing something, and decided the dragon out to be holding something, so I gave him a precious ring to tenderly cherish. After a few moments of thought, I let my mind wander and wonder if the dragon Smaug from JRR Tolkien's "The Hobbit" (and of course, The Lord of the Rings) had ever gotten ahold of the One Ring, what would happen? Is this what it would have looked like? In any case, we might never know, but perhaps here is a possibility, perhaps, although the dragon isn't intended to be Smaug at all. This piece is insanely detailed, and I think the "precious" mood of this pieces comes across very well (and I'm thrilled how the lighting/shading turned out!)
Mixed media acrylic/colored pencil rendered onto an earthy-colored cardstock that is approximately 8 1/2 by 11 inches.
One day I'll actually have this site up-to-date.

wow great job! It must have taken you forever to finish it and get the details and lighting right!
