This fan was completed for a recent convention, and sold there in the art show.
It was a huge 30 inches or more long, from tip to tip. The feathers are three striped wing feathers from a peacock, and are completely natural. The handle was handcrafted from pine. The fur is from that of a red fox, since tiger fur is of course both illegal in many areas as well as an endangered species. The fan has my most intricate design yet, and includes golden, smoke, and black deerhide lacing, and all strands have some amount of braiding or designwork. I'm really pleased with how that turned out, although it took a great deal longer than many of my owher fans. The painted image is around 4-5 inches large! While it's hard to see in this photo, that is supposed to be knotwork smoke coming from the shimmering green crystal, and I added a sort of iridescence aroud the crystal, smoke, and feather which reflects when it is tilted and moved around.
The fan includes a hefty 12 deerhide dangles, and another two full-beaded dangles. The beading includes glass beads as well as frosted glass beads, etched silver beads, and semi-precious tiger's eye (clever, I know, but how could I resist? ) and sandy jasper with silvery tin cones.
I'm fairly pleased with how this one turned out: Enjoy!
