World of Warcraft Druid Jacket Back:

For fun I painted one of my Warcraft characters on back of a black fabric jacket that I've been wearing off and on for a couple years now.

The fabric paints appear to be wearing well, though at some point I might see about trying to "flatten" it out a bit for a better photo, but at least this came out decently. :) This was the first time I'd ever used fabric paints in a manner to somewhat emulate acrylic paints, and it was definitely a bit of a struggle, taking me quite a number of thin layers to properly build up paint on top of the fuzzy fabric.

It was painted so that when the hood is flopped over the back (which it usually is), that it doesn't "hide" any of the image. This was my first "real" foray into using colored fabric painted, and I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out! It looks much nicer in person.

I'm looking forward to planning out more of these types of fun, personal projects!

Season 3 Druid Arena Gear was quite fetching!

Fan Art.

This art, I do say, is quite fancy (in a good way). Good show.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it! :) It's rare for me to create wearable art, but it was certainly a great learning experience!

this is lovely, and i keep meaning to comment on it, and the something gets in the way, and i don't, so here i am! i did something like this too, many years ago now...[link] and had the same problem as you. i used an old tshirt though, so it wasn't so much the fluffiness, as the fact that every colour of the paint seems to go on semi transparent, other than white. so as my background was cyan blue, unless i wanted tones mixed with blue intentionally, i had to put a layer of white down and paint over it. it was a real challenge, but also really fun and it has stayed one of my favourite things for years after, so i'd have to agree, more people should try it! i love her face and hair in this, totally nailed it.

First off: I REALLY like your own painting there! Wow! And yes: I totally went through a similar sort of frustration on my jacket here.

For me, it was a sort of tri-fold problem: 1.) The shirt was fuzzy, making painting anything resembling "smooth" on it rather frustrating, 2.) Many of my paints were semi-transparent, so I, like you, ended up having to basically do a silhouette of the image I was going for in white as an initial layer, 3.) The shirt being black didn't make #2 any easier, especially since I really hated the idea of locking myself into a silhouette so early on, but it ended up being for the best after I realizes just the time it would take for the "white" layer would be many hours. Luckily, after that point, finally working with layers of color was "fun" by comparison. ;) I only wish it was a shorter process, or at least with less obstacles along the way. I know I've had more than one person tell me they thought my jacket here was just an iron-on, and my goodness: I only WISH it would have been that simple!

And I'm so glad you like her face and hair! I loved finally getting to the point I could really "shade" them. :)
