Sketch: Enchantress Sashah on her Mount ~ February 9th, 2006
Close-Up of Sketch.
Full Image is Available Here.
Next up is a piece that is around 4x5 inches or thereabouts and took me around 45 minutes. Two "characters" of mine, one of which is Sashah. I thought I'd try my hand at tack for a digitrade character, although she'd never actually look like this on a mount. I hardly expected it would go any further than a doodle, but I had two Microns and some very sexy brush pens so....well... This is one of those pieces that I drew at an angle, so I had to recontort a bit in photoshop to get the dimensions a little closer to how they look from an angle... I do wish I'd stop that bad habit, but it sounds as if other people out there do the same thing, so at least I'm not alone. :-/ I also wanted to do characters facing right, since I noticed a few too many facing left lately in my sketchbook.
This is a closeup of the same sketch. The horse head is probably the "best" I've done without any reference ever. Stylized and simple, I wanted line to define features rather than crosshatching alone. (And I can see some rather severe anatomy errors on the horse: I wish I'd known I was destined to take it to this stage before I started haphazardly inking. ~_~ I'm sorry you have no rump, pony!)
