Digital edit of 1 inch by 1.5 inch graphite and ink sketch. About 2 hours total.
So I had a nice little gesture drawing that eventually I decided to add on to and refine and detail and then ink to the point that it lost all of the "spirit" of the original sketch, and I'm left sighing that I didn't just leave well enough alone. Ah well!
Rather than consider the entire undertaking a wash, I decided that the cupper (the armor on a horse's read) was the one solid, redeeming part of the whole sketch, so I scanned it and took it into Photoshop and added a bit of color to it. What I've uploaded is the scan in the "original size" as a 600DPI scan so it has some raw inking edges for sure.
It's a fun little doodle of dressage concerning one of the characters from my series.

The way you folded the wings up and around and how the lions toes are still sticking out at the bottom really lend itself well to the overall piece in my opinion. I also personally am fascinated with the hand armor as that is something that is always a bit tricky to me.
